Sonia Smith is a writer based in Texas. A two-time Livingston Award finalist, she has reported for publications including Texas Monthly, The New York Times Magazine, Slate, and the Kyiv Post. Her profile of climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe was selected for The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2017. She cut her teeth covering crime on the bayou for the Baton Rouge Advocate.
